PROPER CARE
The frequency at which an engine should be tuned varies greatly. Older vehicles were designed for annual tune-ups. Newer vehicles can sometimes go for 3-5 years without tune-ups. These engines would have electronic fuel injection or electronic ignition. However, such engines are sufficiently complex enough to require computerized diagnostic and measurement tools. The tune-up of such engines should be left to professionals. Refer to your owner's manual for the recommended tune-up interval.Going without tune-ups doesn't mean you ignore normal maintenance like oil changes or air filter changes. It means you don't need a professional automotive technician to modify the internal adjustments of certain engine parts.
